Alexa Roman Kluge Quote Roller

Alexa: Our company is called Kluge. We are a design and development team that builds web and mobile applications guided by holistic business and marketing strategy. Arturo, our CEO, and our Creative Director, Abraham, founded the company because they saw a need for strategic interactive design that is properly crafted to meet business goals.

We work in a co-working community in Venice Beach called Nextspace @ Amplify ‒ we have a designated office, but we share the space with several other tech companies and a great, innovative accelerator, Amplify. It’s a really great place to work!

Why did you start it? What makes it unique?

Kluge has been in business since 2008 and over the years, we have built a variety of websites and web applications for entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs. Our mission is to identify the client’s goals and use them to design user interfaces that attract, engage and retain users. Arturo’s background in business planning and investment banking informs our ability to flesh out a comprehensive digital strategy. We focus on needs vs wants and aim to build a solid foundation using key calls-to-action, intuitive user interfaces, and organic navigation. Kluge has an affinity for rapid prototyping and harnessing agile methodologies for the benefit of our clients.

What do you love about being an entrepreneur?

Outside of Nextspace Amplify

Technically, I am not the entrepreneur ‒ Arturo and Abraham are.
We are, however, a very lean team of 10. For me, I love the ability to constantly iterate on our working methods ‒ use new, efficient tools like Quote Roller and integrate them as soon as they prove their use. Arturo and Abraham are extremely open to trying new methods of working and collaborating and as a result, we improve our work and its outcome very quickly. The technology community moves at a rapid pace and being able to test our hypotheses in an open-minded environment is the only way to succeed.

I will let Arturo answer that question here: “I love the pace and the autonomy, the ability to craft our own vision, culture, values combined with the agility and flexibility to change and adjust. It’s a huge responsibility, thrilling and scary at the same time. I can’t imagine doing it any other way.”

How do you envision success?

Arturo

Broadly, success for Kluge is consistent improvement. As long as we are adding value to a project and see results over time, we feel we are on the right track. We like to see our clients grow ‒ when a product goes from zero to hundreds of thousands of users ‒ that is success. Capturing engagement and discussing future possibilities based on real market needs are the rewards of that process.

In addition to working on our clients’ projects, we are also building our own mobile application in partnership with a previous client. The ability to develop our own projects and to experiment with our team’s true capabilities is the ultimate sign of success.

How did you hear about Quote Roller? Why did you decide to try our app?

We heard about Quote Roller from Twitter. At the time we joined, we were struggling to copy and paste content from the appropriate proposal “templates” in Word. We jumped at the chance to use Quote Roller because we had nothing to lose.

We used to spend three to five hours on every proposal. We thought if Quote Roller could make writing proposals and getting them approved even a little easier, it was worth it.

How does Quote Roller help your business?

Quote Roller allows us to spend less time getting a project approved and more time actually working on the project. We can easily save sections and pricing tables for future use. We get to see statistics of what parts of the proposal clients are spending the most time.

My favorite feature of Quote Roller is that clients can approve digitally. It has doubled our proposal approval rate and ensured we get a signed proposal before we start work.

The fact that clients can download the signed PDF is invaluable and it streamlines what used to be a very painful process.

What would you tell your friends about Quote Roller?

We talk about Quote Roller to everyone ‒ clients, colleagues and friends. We often tell them that it brings the idea of positive user experience to proposal creation and approval. Clients can see right away that the process of working with you will be clean, organized and intuitive when you start with a proposal that demonstrates and reflects those values. Beyond its aesthetic, Quote Roller will decrease time spent writing a proposal and increase the amount of proposals approved. What more could anyone want?

Alexa, thank you very much for the wonderful story and we wish Kluge Interactive to always evolve, grow and inspire others. Good luck!
